Synopsis
In their second year of high school, Yuri Nishina (So Okuno), Shin “Maya” Mayama (Rintaro Mizusawa), Mashiro “Shiro” Kagami (Eito Konishi), and Aoi Shida (Maito Fujioka) should have everything in the world going for them. Unfortunately, with their crummy personalities and their utter lack of ambition, the only thing these four friends have going for them is their ridiculously good looks.
Finding creative ways to embrace their uselessness, Yuri, Maya, Shiro, and Aoi decide to form their school club. Nicknamed the “Useless Club,” the four friends do an excellent job of living up to their name. Wasting away their days on silly stunts they upload to social media and vowing to never fall in love, the members of the Useless Club are only concerned with finding the next worthless thing to waste their time on. While searching for a new gimmick to try, the Useless Club members decide to conduct an experiment they read in a manga. According to the manga, if you run with a piece of bread in your mouth and bump into someone, you’ll fall in love.
Ready to give this latest experiment a try, the Useless Club make preparations, completely unaware that in doing so, they’re seriously tempting fate. Sprinting across the school grounds with bread in their mouths, are Yuri, Maya, Shiro, and Aoi prepared to deal with the consequences of their actions when they bump into some very unexpected classmates?
Adapted from the manga series “Talking Nonsense About Love” by Ryoko Fukuyama, “36,000 Seconds in a Day” is a 2022 Japanese romantic comedy drama directed by Junta Yamaguchi, Ayuta Yoshikawa, and Miyako Yasoshima.
