Seung Ho (Cha Tae Hyun) is a successful jockey. One day, tragedy strikes when he is involved in a car crash that kills his wife, leaving him to look after his young daughter on his own. The accident also leaves him injured – to the point he discovers that he is gradually losing his eyesight. Faced with imminent blindness, he is unable to ride as he once did. He attempts to turn his fortunes around by cheating at the race track – a stunt that strips him of all of his savings.
He escapes to the island of Jeju, off the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula, where he and his daughter take up residence at a little-known ranch. But it is here that fate decides to deal him a better hand, at last. He comes across Woo Bak, a racehorse that has developed a foul temper after a recent injury. Seung Ho decides to try to tame this bad-tempered horse. He decides to try to ride Woo Bak to victory in a prestigious race. But can this injured horse and its almost-blind rider really do the unthinkable – and claim the big prize?
