Synopsis
In the late 18th century, the Joseon King believes that a spate of murders may have been committed as part of a wider conspiracy. So he dispatches the finest investigator in the land, Detective K (Kim Myung Min), to investigate. His probe leads him to a prison – but when he arrives, he finds that the prison governor has been killed with a long needle. When he removes the needle, guards find him and believe he is the murderer. He is locked up in a cell along with a dog trader named Seo Pil (Oh Dal Soo). The latter also has the ability to dig holes like a dog – so helps Detective K escape from prison.
With Seo Pil as his new right-hand man, Detective K begins another investigation, hoping it will help him get to the bottom of what he believes to be a case of poisoning involving a rare, toxic flower. This new probe sees his path cross with the stunning Han Kaek Joo (Han Ji Min), a charismatic female trade magnate who appears to hold the key to a number of the secrets involved with the case. But as the investigation deepens, Detective K starts to realize that the conspiracy may be much more complex than he first feared!
