Synopsis

Having fought his way to the top of a locally organized crime ring, Lee Gang Pae (So Ji Sub) now sits proudly as second in command. No stranger to violence, Gang Pae has a reputation as being a man no one would want to cross. Yet, despite his violent nature, he harbors a soft spot for cinema and still hopes to someday star in a film. While Gang Pae dreams of being a star, superstar Jang Soo Ta (Kang Ji Hwan) is the real deal. Haughty and hot-tempered, Soo Ta is the perfect fit for the role of a gangster he’s taken for his latest film. Unfortunately, sinking too deeply into his character leads Soo Ta to take things too far, bringing production to a standstill. With stuntmen now refusing to work with him, Soo Ta takes it upon himself to find someone to fill in as his opponent.  Remembering a brief run-in with Gang Pae at a local bar, Soo Ta approaches the gangster with an offer to co-star in his latest film. Unable to refuse a chance to make his dreams come true, Gang Pae accepts the actor’s request, on one condition: all of the fight scenes they do must be real. Does this hot-tempered star have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with an actual mob boss? Based on an original story by Kim Ki Duk, “Rough Cut” is a 2008 South Korean action film directed by Jang Hoon.
