A Melody to Remember

During the latter stages of the Korean War (1950-1953), Second Lieutenant Han Sang Yeol (Im Siwan) finds himself in the thick of the action. A former musician turned soldier, he believes in the transformative power of music, even though the war has devastated his family, leaving him in shock and grief. But when his platoon stumbles across an orphanage, he decides to do what he can to help. For him, help and music go hand-in-hand. So, together with the orphanage volunteer Joo Mi (Go Ah Sung), he decides to help the children of the orphanage form a choir. He starts to strike up a bond with the children, who refer to him fondly as “older brother.” Many in his platoon are stunned by his determination to help the children – and even bring them along with the unit when it is redeployed to another front. But he is determined to keep them under his protection and tutelage – no matter what. “A Melody to Remember” is a 2015 South Korean movie that was directed by Lee Han.
