Caught in Time

In the early 90’s, a deadly group of criminals known as the Eagle Gang ran rampant throughout China, robbing banks, jewelry shops, and high-end luxury stores, laying waste to anyone who tried to stop them. Led by the sociopathic gangster, Zhang Xun (Daniel Wu), codenamed “Falcon”, this well-trained and utterly ruthless organization became notorious for the devastation they left in their wake. On his first day as captain of the new criminal investigation bureau, Zhong Chen (Wang Qian Yuan) finds himself caught up in Falcon’s latest heist. In what could easily be considered the worst first day in history, the Eagle Gang takes the new captain hostage, eventually dumping his battered body on the side of the road. But the dedicated detective still has enough wits about him to leave Falcon with a little parting gift. With a foul taste left in his mouth, Zhong Chen vows he will not rest until Falcon and his gang are brought to justice. But the pursuit of this notorious gang proves to be anything but easy. For the better part of a decade, Zhong Chen and Falcon remain locked in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse; but luck on both sides has started to run very thin, leaving both to wonder, which side will prevail when the luck runs out? Loosely based on a series of crimes that rocked China in the 1990’s, “Caught in Time” is a 2020 action crime film written and directed by Ho Leung Lau.
