My Best Summer

Geng Geng (He Lan Dou) is a socially awkward but warm-hearted girl who is about to start her first year at the exclusive Zhen Hua High School. She is filled with trepidation, though, and worried that the school will be too much for her to cope with – and fearful that she does not belong there. But in a stroke of good fortune, she finds herself paired in class with a remarkable deskmate, the popular and smart Yu Huai (Chen Fei Yu). Although their friendship gets off to a rocky start – with the two arguing about minor trifles – they eventually form a strong bond and become inseparable. Together, they begin to form firm friendships with their classmates – including some quirky and unusual characters – as well as some very inspiring teachers. Will Geng Geng and Yu Huai’s friendship survive high school – and could platonic love turn into something more romantic as their relationship deepens. The movie is based on a novel by Chinese author Ba Yue Chang An. The novel also spawned the 2016 series “With You.” “My Best Summer” is a 2019 Chinese movie directed by Zhang Di Sha.
