Having learned all about love through Saku’s books, Kanoko can’t help but feel a little something special when it comes to her new work partner. Unfortunately for her, Saku seems to feel nothing at all.

Petty and aloof, Saku’s greatest pleasure seems to come from picking on poor Kanoko. Determined to help Saku produce yet another top-selling novel, Kanoko puts up with all of her writer’s nonsense but it isn’t easy. Especially not when, despite everything, she finds herself falling for him. Pondering the decisions of her heart, Kanoko has to wonder, can an unlovable man and a woman who’s never been in love really find happiness together?

Rinko Amaki (Takada Kaho) is a successful 27-year-old woman who works at a busy wedding planning agency. She excels at her job to such an extent that she is promoted to lead her unit. She is popular, beautiful, and hard-working, but there is just one thing that frustrates her: Despite being surrounded by loved-up couples and romance all day at work for years, she is still single. And on top of that, she has never made love. She wants to lose her virginity, but has never found the right man.

In a twist of fate, her male co-worker Gen Kamisaka (Totsuka Shota), another wildly successful wedding planner is in the exact same predicament. Also aged 27, he has never had any intimate relations with a woman. The duo, having discovered they share the same “problem,” decides to do something about it. But they soon discover that work and physical intimacy are not easy to balance. And while they might have initially envisaged a quick and fuss-free fling, Cupid might have other plans for them...

This drama was based on a 2017 manga series of the same name, which was created by Mio Fujita.

In many respects, Noburu Tagawa (Atsuhiro Inukai) is the very definition of an ideal husband. He loves his wife dearly, has a good, well-paying job, voluntarily helps out around the house, and to top it all off, he’s also incredibly handsome. Natsu Takato (Asami Mizukawa) is a woman in her mid-thirties and to the outside world, she appears to have a near-perfect life. She is a popular screenwriter who has been commissioned to write for a major new work. She lives with her apparently devoted husband Takatou Shogo (Hidekazu Mashima) in the suburbs of Saitama. Her husband is a former TV network director, but has become a stay-at-home house husband and her business manager, taking care of financial matters and chores while she ostensibly focuses on her work.

However, Natsu Takato is beset by an irrepressible sense of lust that leads her to pursue an extramarital relationship with a theater director. And she also begins to feel that her husband’s influence is starting to encroach on her writing – and that he is trying to micromanage her creative processes. She decides to split from Takatou Shogo – much to her family’s annoyance – and moves to the capital, Tokyo, to live on her own. In the big city, more romances beckon for Natsu Takato, but where will this new adventure take her?

“Double Fantasy” is a 2018 Japanese drama series that was based on a novel of the same name by Murayama Yuka and directed by Minorikawa Osamu.
