Liu Hai Bo

In Tang Dynasty China, the clothing, textile, and fabric industries are booming. Ji Ying Ying (Tan Song Yun) hails from a merchant family, and has developed her own inimitable dyeing techniques. These valuable skills have caught many people’s eyes – including that of the ambitious prince Sheng Feng Ze (Jing Chao). The prince plans to capture Ying Ying and use her talents to help his clan dominate the brocade trade. But her former childhood friend Yang Jing Lan (Zheng Ye Cheng) is also on the scene, albeit undercover, as he investigates an unsolved mystery. As rivalries and schemes threaten to engulf the entire realm and its powerful craftsmen, could Jing Lan foil the prince’s dastardly plan? She also meets (and falls for) Ye Jun Qing (Chen Zhe Yuan), a young Da Chu prince.

As she discovers the scale of the corruption at court, she decides to do her best to see that Ye Jun Qing deposes the evil Emperor using the best tools at her disposal: her wits and natural intelligence.

This drama was based on a graphic novel named “The Cry of the Phoenix that Reached Ninth Heaven.”

“Renascence” is a 2020 Chinese drama that was directed by Lui Hai Bo.
