As a talented pipa player, Li Sa Sa (Bao Shang En) has performed on many different stages. But when, during one of her performances, she finds herself magically transported into the Sheng Dynasty, she finds herself taking the spotlight on the most unlikely stage of all.

Waking in the Sheng Dynasty, she now inhabits the body of Li Ru Niang, a woman who had also been a talented player of the pipa. Completely lost in this new world, Sa Sa aimlessly wanders the streets of Shangjing until she happens to cross paths with Lu Jing Nian (Wu Chong Xuan), the head of a musical sect known as the Right Sect Fang. Joining the group in their shared love of music, Sa Sa quickly settles in as a member of the group.
