One year after heartbroken high school student Mikoto Ochiai (Akari Takaishi) and "scumbag" loser teacher Jin Haiba (Ryo Hashimoto)'s fateful first meeting on the school's rooftop, the two are in a relationship, but have kept it a secret from everyone else. So far, they've managed to succeed, but all that is about to change – after a particular school assignment and celebrating each other's birthdays, the origins of their relationship end up revealed. Will this spell the end for their forbidden romance? This 2024 Japanese drama follows the events of the first season, adapted from the manga of the same name by Sora and directed by Natsuki Takahashi and Yuuka Eda.

Mikoto Ochiai

Mikoto Ochiai (Akari Takaishi) is a female high school student who regularly gets high grades. But affairs of the heart have left her close to suicide. She attempted to make a love confession to the boy she loved, but the move backfired – and she has been left heartbroken. Utterly dejected, she heads up to the rooftop of the school and contemplates jumping off to her death.

But when she gets there, she runs into Jin Haiba (Ryo Hashimoto), a young physics teacher. Most of the students consider Jin Haiba to be something of a walking joke. He is obviously a penniless slacker, and is also addicted to gambling. His life is going nowhere fast. But as she explains why she wants to die, he interjects by asking her if she would consider entering into a romance with him before she dies. She is unsure what to make of this strange suggestion. But when Jin Haiba intervenes to save her from a river, she begins to wonder if his proposal was actually heartfelt...

This drama was based on a manga series by Sora.

When the infectious outbreak was first reported in Chiba, Japan, no one could believe it was real. But when Riri Mizukami (Hiyori Sakurada) meets one of the infected on the way home from her softball club, she knows this virus is going to change the world forever. 

Escaping to a public shelter with the rest of her club, Riri believes they’re all safe, but when it’s discovered that someone inside the shelter has been infected, she fears her life may be at its end. Lucky or not, Riri escapes the shelter and soon finds herself holed up at a shopping mall in Makuhari, but Riri isn’t the only survivor now calling the mall home. Forced to live with several men and women of all ages and occupations, Riri and her new “family” must work together to find ways to survive.

While the world outside the mall is a literal zombie hellscape, life inside the mall isn’t all that bad. With enough provisions to last everyone quite a while, an odd sense of comfort settles over the survivors, causing some to begin to wonder if they might find love. But can one find love amid a zombie apocalypse?

Adapted from the manga series “According to Six Survivors” by Kazune Yamamoto, “Six Survivors” is a 2022 Japanese romantic horror comedy drama directed by Ken Ninomiya.
