Yurina Hirate is a Japanese singer and actress who was born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on June 25, 2001. She joined the all-female J-pop group Keyakizaka46 at the age of just 14 in 2015. She left the group in 2020. She has also appeared in movies, such as “Hibiki” in 2018. In 2022, she starred in the drama series “Roppongi Class.”

When Arata Miyabe (Ryoma Takeuchi)’s father dies, he decides to take revenge on the family that runs Japan’s largest restaurant franchise. That family is the power behind the Nagaya Holdings business group. And this same family has made his life a misery for years: While the younger generation bullied him mercilessly at school, the older generation destroyed his father.

Part of Arata Miyabe’s plan involves launching a restaurant in the upscale Roppongi area of Tokyo. In order to make the restaurant a success, he hires a number of young and talented staff members, including Asamiya Aoi (Yurina Hirate), the new restaurant’s manager. She starts to develop feelings for Arata Miyabe, but so deep is his focus on revenge that he – initially does not notice. As the restaurant begins to gain popularity, Arata Miyabe will soon find himself at a crossroads. But which path will he ultimately choose?
This drama was based on the South Korean web-based cartoon “Itaewon Class,” which also spawned a hit South Korean drama series of the same name.

Over a decade ago, a lowly high school defied the odds by helping a slew of senior students ace their exams and gain admission to the elite University of Tokyo. Almost every Japanese student hopes to study at the university – seen as a one-way ticket to a successful career. And the unconventional teacher who helped the students ace their tests was Sakuragi Kenji (Abe Hiroshi). With left-field methods such as having his students go through their physics formulae and do calculations while playing table tennis and playing cards, Sakuragi Kenji would ask the class to study for a grueling 16 hours per day.

But that is all water under the bridge now. Sakuragi Kenji has left the teaching profession and has become a lawyer. But the Vice Principal of a struggling high school, wants to change all that. She wants to bring Kenji Sakuragi back to school to help the current crop of seniors to overturn the odds and gain admission to the University of Tokyo. The school’s chairwoman Tatsuno Kumiko(Noriko Eguchi) opposes the plan. But Kenji Sakuragi eventually agrees, and enlists the help of his former student Mizuno Naomi(Nagasawa Masami). Has the veteran teacher lost his golden touch? Or can he rediscover some of his former magic to help his new students defy the academic odds?

This drama was based on a manga series of the same name by Mita Norifusa.
