Vera Qiu, also known as Qiu Shi Yuan, is a Chinese actress and TV personality who was born on October 10, 1996, in Wuhan, Hubei Province on October 10, 1996. She graduated from the East China Normal University and debuted in a TV variety show in 2017. She appeared in the 2020 film “Legend of the Mermaid” and reprised the same role in the movie’s sequel, “Legend of the Mermaid 2” (2021).

Many years ago, the mermaid Xi Yin (Vera Qiu) met and saved the valiant and righteous imperial guard Yan Lie (Liang Ting Wei). The duo slowly fell in love, but their story ended in sadness when she vanished beneath the waters – presumably in possession of a priceless and magical treasure. Now, the imperial concubine Shen Mei (Sun Zi Jun) wants to get her hands on the treasure – at all costs. 

Shen Mei devises a plot that involves taking Yan Lie back to the enchanted island where he once spent time with Xi Yun. Believing him to be the key to capturing the treasure, she plans to capture the treasure, even if it means spilling blood. But when Yan Lie is finally reunited with Xi Yin, it seems she has no recollection of him. It is as if they had never met. A fierce battle breaks out as Shen Mei tries to get what she came for. Will she succeed – or will the former lovers reunite to save the world from catastrophe once more?

In the last years of the Qing Dynasty, the people of China were devastated by a multitude of troubles, both internally and externally. With the internal political structure of the country in turmoil, it was easy for outside powers to press their advantage, especially those who controlled the sea.&nbsp;

With pirates running rampant on the high seas, the people of China were constantly at the mercy of the ruthless cutthroats. Pillaging and plundering the unprotected coastal villages, the pirates ran unchecked along the coastline. Desperate, the people looked to their leaders for help but none was to be found. Unable to sit by while his people suffered, Su Qi Er (Tan Xin Zer) the leader of a local gang of beggars took it upon himself to help the oppressed. Joined by Chen Xin Yi (Zhao Yi Han), a progressive young woman who couldn’t bear to watch her people suffer, the two formed a mighty militia to stand against the pirates. Little did they know the pirates had secretly joined forces with the fearsome Japanese warrior, Noshaku Yamamoto (Norman Chui).

Crushed by the combined might of the pirates and their Japanese allies, Qi Er and Xin Yi had no choice but to fall back and regroup. With their militia gone, will they find a way to rally the people to their cause, or will their terror of the pirates prove too great to overcome?

The Chinese Emperor has sent a sea expedition – led by a corrupt old governor – into the sea to seek a powerful treasure. The ship’s crew consists of unruly pirate types and unscrupulous bandits. The ship finds itself adrift at sea in stormy conditions. Food has run out and they are on the verge of turning to cannibalism when a mighty dragon attacks the boat, smashing it into splinters. The loyal and righteous imperial guard Yan Lie (Liang Ting Wei) is cast overboard – and the survivors decide not to bother trying to save him aboard their makeshift.

About to drown, Yan Lie is saved at the last moment by Xi Yin (Vera Qiu), a mermaid whose magical song has the power to repel the dragon. But her efforts lead her to wash up ashore on an enchanted island with Yan Lie. He manages to save her from suffocating on the shore, but the governor and his gang of ruffians have also made landfall. As they attempt to explore the island, many more surprises await. But will the bond between this righteous warrior and the world’s last mermaid help them defeat the forces of evil?
