Tian Yuan is a Chinese musician, actress, and novelist who was born in Wuhan, China, on March 30, 1985. She studied in English at Beijing Language and Culture University, but before graduation debuted as a member of the pop band Hopscotch. She has appeared in a number of movie and drama titles, such as “Butterfly” in 2004 and “First Time” in 2012. More recently, she has starred in the dramas “Goodbye My Love” (2020) and “Definitely Not Today” (2021).

Many years ago, Shi Lu (Shang Yu Xian) lost contact with her father (Wang Yan Hui). She tries to start a new life in the United States, but her plans are disrupted when her estranged father calls for a favor: look after a son he had with another woman. Her father explains that the young boy’s health is compromised, and that he must receive treatment in the US. Soon, the boy arrives, and Shi Lu finds herself looking after him. But she finds herself in a quandary when her half-brother goes missing... just when she is offered a dream job! Will she choose to help her father find the boy – or will she focus on her own future? Mi Chong (Leon Leong) is a young man with crippling social anxiety. He is so unsatisfied with his miserable existence, which mainly involves staying at home all day, frozen with fear about social interaction, that he finally decides to end his life. He heads down to a nearby river, intent on committing suicide. But when he sees a young girl named Zhi Liu (Vivienne Tien) n the river, about to drown, he instinctively dives in to save her.

Little did he know but Zhi Liu has also been through a very rough time. Unlike him, she is an extravert, but her tumultuous family life has taken its toll on her, and she wants to get away from the people who have caused her pain. An unlikely friendship develops between these two individuals, despite their polar opposite personalities – but could love also follow?

This drama was partly based on real-life court cases that were processed by the Chinese prosecution service, the Supreme People’s Procuratorate.
