Kamio Fuju is a Japanese actor who was born on January 21, 1999, in Tokyo, Japan. He made his acting debut in the 2015 drama series “Mom, I’m OK.” He has since gone on to appear in movies, such as 2017’s “My Brother Loves Me Too Much,” as well as scores of hit drama series titles, including “Nippon Noir: Detective Y’s Rebellion” (2019), 2020’s “Nibiiro no Hako no Naka de,” and “Black Cinderella” in 2021.

Natsumi Aoi (Nana Mori) has spent her whole life by the ocean, living in a popular seaside resort where she works as a standup paddleboard instructor and manages her father’s restaurant. She often hangs out with childhood friend Takumi Makino (Fuju Kamio), a carpenter who always seems to be around any time Natsumi needs his help. Natsumi gives little thought to love, although she harbors secret feelings for Takumi, who seems to be besotted with an older woman. But that all threatens to change when she meets Kento Mizushima (Shotaro Mamiya), the well-educated heir to a major Tokyo-based construction company. Yuri Kariya (Hikaru Takahashi) is a high school student who rarely has deep thoughts about anything in particular. But one day, she (literally) bumps into a boy from another class at school and falls in love with him at first sight. His name is Ryuhei Aono (Sato Shori), and the two embark on a passionate relationship. Their love story appears to be short-lived, however. Just a fortnight after meeting, Ryuhei Aono is killed in a tragic road accident. But even though they only spent two weeks together, Yuri Kariya is so distraught that she decides she cannot face another day without him…

She resolves to kill herself by slashing her wrists with a knife. But just as she is about to do so, Ryuhei Aono’s ghost appears and beseeches her to stop. She says she will do as he says, but only if he agrees to continue their relationship – albeit with him as a ghost. He agrees. But loving a ghost proves to be harder than it seems. Nobody else can see Ryuhei Aono but Yuri Kariya, meaning that when people see her speaking to him, it appears as though she is talking to herself, or is on the phone. With help from Masayoshi Fujimoto (Kamio Fuju), one of Ryuhei Aono’s friends, and Mio Horie (Ririka), a classmate with a deep understanding of horror movies, she tries to get on with her life. But when she convinces Ryuhei Aono’s ghost to briefly take control of her body, things start to get weird!

This drama was based on a manga series of the same name that was penned by Shiina Umi and began serialization in 2016.

“I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die” is a 2022 Japanese drama series that was directed by Smith.
