Steven Yeun is a Korean-American actor who was born on December 21, 1983, in Seoul, South Korea. He moved to North America when still a child and was educated in Michigan, in the United States. He appeared in the long-running sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” in 2010 and shot to fame after playing the character Glenn Rhee in the hit US television series “The Walking Dead” (2010–2016). He also appeared in the film “Burning” (2018). He has since appeared in the hit movie “Minari” (2020).

Determined to live the American dream, Brigid (Beanie Feldstein) and Richard (Steven Yeun) have recently rented their first apartment in Manhattan. Despite the outlandish rent, their new home is dark, dank, and undeniably creepy. Even so, the young couple have decided to host Brigid’s family’s annual Thanksgiving celebration.

Traveling from Scranton, Pennsylvania to visit the couple in their new home, Brigid’s parents Deirdre (Jayne Houdyshell) and Erik (Richard Jenkins) arrive with Erik’s mother Momo (June Squibb) and Brigid’s sister Aimee (Amy Schumer) in tow. As darkness falls outside, a sense of dread settles inside as eerie noises coupled with the gradual disclosure of personal secrets and micro-tragedies sets everyone’s nerves on edge. With each individual’s deepest fears laid bare, will the love that binds this family together be enough to give them the strength they need to carry on?

Jong Su (Yoo Ah In) is a quiet introvert with a life full of sadness. His father has been charged with violent assault. His mother, who abandoned the family when Jong Su was still very young, occasionally returns – but only to ask him for money. And his once semi-rural neighborhood is in the process of being urbanized.

One day, he runs into a long-lost childhood friend named Hae Mi (Jeon Jong Seo). The two get to talking and rekindle their friendship. This friendship then turns romantic, but it may not last long, as she tells him that she is heading off to Africa to travel. Jong Su hopes that they will stay in touch. But when she returns, she does so in the company of Ben (Steven Yeun), an affluent, Porsche-driving big-city type who appears to have won Hae Mi’s heart.

However, Ben is a man of mystery, and one day confesses to Jong Su that he has a dangerous hobby: arson. He, and Hae Mi, then promptly disappear, leaving Jong Su eager to track them down – before Hae Mi’s passion for him quells, and Ben’s frightening pastime gets out of hand…

This film was based on a short story by Haruki Murakami.

4MINUTE’s Jeon Ji Yoon, Steve Yuen, Kim Dasom, and more are the stars in an omnibus of five short tales of ordinary folk, their lives, and their loves.

In the opening tale, named “A Time to Leave,” the long-suffering mother of four daughters decides to end her life after months of illness. She tells her daughters that she has terminal cancer, and asks her children to spend three more days with her before she ends her days. Next, in “A Lady at the Bar,” two men at a bar both take a fancy to the same woman and try to win her affections. Which of these suitors will she choose? Or is she interested in neither? Third, in “A Remaining Time,” a couple who love each other decide to ask a soothsayer about their future. But this turns out to be a fateful moment: She tells them that if they stay together, they will surely die – and must break up within 100 days or pay the ultimate price… In the titular “Like a French Film,” a man dotes on a woman who works a night shift, bending over backward to please her with his every action. And in the final tale, “2016. New Year's Film,” new beginnings are all around as January 14 dawns.
