Lee Ho Chul is a South Korean actor and TV personality who was born on December 11, 1985, in Daegu, South Korea. He graduated from Myongji College. He made early appearances in the movies “Afrika” (2002) and “Elbowroom” in 2010 before making a name for himself in 2013 with an appearance in the film “Friend: The Great Legacy.” In more recent times, he has appeared in the hit movie “A Taxi Driver” (2017) and the dramas “Dr. Romantic 2” and “The King: Eternal Monarch” (both 2020).

Former Special Forces officer Kim Do Ki (Lee Je Hoon) has always lived an honest life, but his world is shattered when his mother is murdered. Driven by a desperate need for justice, Do Ki meets Jang Sung Chul (Kim Eui Sung), who recruits him to work for his company Rainbow Taxi, a secret organization masquerading as a taxi service. Dr. Kim once gained fame as a top surgeon at a huge hospital. One day, he left the industry, and now he is a chief surgeon at Doldam Hospital in the countryside. After he conducted a successful operation on Chairman Shin, he gets to improve the hospital under reliable support. But then Chairman Shin passes away. New people appear, and his students had to leave the hospital. Furthermore, his wrist, which was injured three years ago, starts to act weird. After all, he goes to a huge hospital himself to solve the manpower shortage at Doldam Hospital, where he finds two people who resemble his former students but who seem much more lacking. Woo Jin would do anything for money, and Eun Jae runs out every time she goes into a surgery room.

A West German journalist hoping to report on the increasing civil unrest in Gwangju, Jürgen “Peter” Hinzpeter (Thomas Kretschmann), knows he’s risking his life for this story. With foreign reporters prohibited from entering the country, he has used the role of missionary and businessman to get as far as Seoul, but it’s not far enough if he hopes to cover this breaking story. Meeting Man Seob, the two set off for Gwangju, only to find that all roads leading into the city are not only blocked, but also heavily guarded. Undeterred by the danger ahead, the two find a more creative way into the city, only to find themselves caught up in the escalating events unfolding around them.

Unintentional participants in the uprising, Man Seob and Peter soon find themselves befriending strangers from all walks of life as they attempt to document the severity of the situation, all while trying to outrun the law. Short on time and running thin on luck, the brave pair must find a way to get home before it’s too late.

Based on a real-life story, “A Taxi Driver” is a 2017 historical action film directed by Jang Hoon.
