Kim Man Seob (Song Kang Ho), a struggling taxi driver in 1980 Seoul, is burdened with hospital bills and raising his young daughter alone after his wife's death. When he overhears about a lucrative job driving a foreign journalist, he seizes the opportunity. Jürgen "Peter" Hinzpeter (Thomas Kretschmann), a West German reporter, seeks to document the civil unrest in Gwangju despite strict reporting restrictions. Together, they navigate dangerous roadblocks and military checkpoints to enter the city, becoming unexpected witnesses to the escalating Gwangju Uprising. As they risk their lives to capture the truth, Man Seob and Peter form an unlikely friendship, helping each other survive the dangerous circumstances and expose the critical events unfolding around them. This is a 2017 South Korean historical action film based on a true story, directed by Jang Hoon.
