Hikaru Takahashi is a Japanese actress born in Shiga, Japan, on September 22, 2001. She won the Grand Prix at the Bishojo beauty and talent contest in 2014 and started out in the entertainment business as a model in TV commercials. She went on to make her acting debut in the movie “Jinsei no Yakusoku” in 2016. She followed up with her TV drama debut, playing a role in the historical series “Onna Joshu Naotora” (2017). More recently, she played a leading role in the TV adaptation of the hit manga title “Parfait Tic!” (2018).

Murai (Ryubi Miyase) is a high schooler who has long dark hair. He is incredibly clever and regularly gets top grades in his class. He is also madly in love with his famously cold and aloof homeroom teacher Tanaka (Hikaru Takahashi). One day, Murai asks the students to fill in a form explaining what they want to do when they leave school. Murai writes “Marry Teacher Tanaka” on his form. Tanaka scolds him and tears the paper into shreds – telling him that she dislikes men with long, dark hair.

But Tanaka hides a secret that she shares with nobody. She is madly in love with a video game character named Hitotose, from an “otome” (female-targetted) video game named “Feudal Era Love Scroll.” The day after she rejects Murai, however, Tanaka gets a shock – Murai turns up at school looking every inch like Hitotose, replete with the very same bleached blonde hair as her video game crush. Will she be able to resist his charms now?

This drama was based on a hit 2018-2022 manga series of the same name by Junta Shima.

Yuri Kariya (Hikaru Takahashi) is a high school student who rarely has deep thoughts about anything in particular. But one day, she (literally) bumps into a boy from another class at school and falls in love with him at first sight. His name is Ryuhei Aono (Sato Shori), and the two embark on a passionate relationship. Their love story appears to be short-lived, however. Just a fortnight after meeting, Ryuhei Aono is killed in a tragic road accident. But even though they only spent two weeks together, Yuri Kariya is so distraught that she decides she cannot face another day without him…

She resolves to kill herself by slashing her wrists with a knife. But just as she is about to do so, Ryuhei Aono’s ghost appears and beseeches her to stop. She says she will do as he says, but only if he agrees to continue their relationship – albeit with him as a ghost. He agrees. But loving a ghost proves to be harder than it seems. Nobody else can see Ryuhei Aono but Yuri Kariya, meaning that when people see her speaking to him, it appears as though she is talking to herself, or is on the phone. With help from Masayoshi Fujimoto (Kamio Fuju), one of Ryuhei Aono’s friends, and Mio Horie (Ririka), a classmate with a deep understanding of horror movies, she tries to get on with her life. But when she convinces Ryuhei Aono’s ghost to briefly take control of her body, things start to get weird!

This drama was based on a manga series of the same name that was penned by Shiina Umi and began serialization in 2016.

“I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die” is a 2022 Japanese drama series that was directed by Smith.
