Cho Hyun Chul is a South Korean actor and film director. He was born on December 24, 1986 and made his debut as an actor in 2006 and in 2014, he made his debut as a director. Since debut, he has appeared in several films and television dramas, including the 2019 fantasy drama, “Hotel del Luna”. He is the younger brother of Korean rapper, Mad Clown.

In 1980s South Korea, Lee Eui Shik (Oh Dal Soo) is a popular left-wing politician and potential presidential candidate who returns from spending time abroad to find he has been placed under house arrest.

His political rivals have nothing but trumped-up charges to accuse him of, however, so must urgently come up with something concrete to charge him with – or risk needing to let him go free.

In a desperate move, a government agency assigns a team of poorly performing covert spies to pose as a family and move into the house next door.

Headed by Dae Kwon (Jung Woo) and featuring the clumsy bugging expert Dong Shik (Kim Byung Chul), this team – somehow – successfully manages to plant surveillance devices in Lee Eui Shik’s house.

Finally privy to his conversations with family members and others, they start to get to know more about the real Lee Eui Shik.

However, the more they listen in to his private conversations, the more they realize that Lee Eui Shik is perhaps is not the corrupt villain his political rivals have been so keen to paint him as after all…

Nestled deep in the heart of Seoul’s thriving downtown sits a curious hotel, the like of which no one has ever seen before. Old beyond measure, the building has stood for millennia, an ever-present testament to the fact that things are not always what they seem. The year is 1940, and the Korean Peninsula is still under the colonial rule of Imperial Japan.

The Imperial Japanese are on the verge of what will soon be their undoing – their involvement in World War II. But even as the nation prepares for war, the colonial government is doing its utmost in its colony to stamp out the Korean language. Its goal is to promote the Japanese language and culture at all costs.

Against this backdrop, a group of people forms an unlikely alliance. Their aim is to produce a Korean language dictionary – an act of defiance and patriotism that could well see them land in very hot water with the colonial government.

This group is led by an erudite young scholar named Ryu Jeong Hwan (Yoon Kye Sang) and Kim Pan Su (Yoo Hae Jin), an illiterate, middle-aged petty thief.

Together with the rest of the group, the duo attempts to do the unthinkable – complete and publish a vital reference book that could help restore national pride in a language that has been placed under existential threat.

Lee Jung Soo (Ha Jung Woo) is an auto salesman who has bought a cake and is driving home to celebrate the birthday of his young kindergarten-age daughter. His drive home takes him through a long tunnel named Hado. But when he has made it halfway through, he realizes something is terribly wrong. The entire tunnel collapses, but miraculously he has survived, although his car has been crushed by the falling concrete and rubble.

At first, the public is horrified by the news, and Dae Kyung (Oh Dal Soo), the head of an accident response team, arrives at the scene, where he is able to make contact with Lee Jung Soo. The rescuers believe that Lee Jung Soo is the only survivor, and, at first, make desperate but fruitless attempts to save him. His wife Se Hyun (Bae Doo Na) is also able to communicate with him, and Lee Jung Soo discovers he may not be the only person to be trapped in the rubble. But as the rescue mission drags on – and threatens to compromise the construction of another major tunnel, some politicians start to question whether it is worth continuing the search…
