After rigorous training in 1930s Russia, four Chinese Communist Party agents are set to embark on a mission of utmost importance. With plans to air-drop into the Japanese puppet state of Manchukuo, Zhang Xian Chen (Zhang Yi), Wang Yu (Qin Hai Lu), Chu Liang (Zhu Ya Wen), and Xiao Lan (Liu Hao Cun) set out on a secret mission, code-named “Utrennya.” Tasked with identifying and rescuing a Chinese informer from the brutal Japanese army, the four agents must bring the informer to Harbin. Little did they know, their mission was doomed from the start.&nbsp;

Dropping into a snow-covered Manchukuo forest, the agents are almost immediately separated by forces which seem to have been waiting for their arrival. Desperate to survive, the now separated agents must do their best to find a way to carry out their mission on their own, but both teams are met at every turn by overwhelming opposition and darkest deceptions. With death lurking around every corner, the agents soon realize there’s a traitor in their midst, but who that traitor is remains a mystery.

With friends turning foe, and foes claiming to be friends, no one can be trusted and nowhere is safe. Will these desperate agents be able to carry out their mission or will they be forced to make the ultimate sacrifice for comrades and country?

Based on a script by Quan Yong Xian, “Cliff Walkers” is a 2021 historical spy thriller film directed by Zhang Yi Mou.

In 1937, shortly after the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Imperial Japanese Army invaded Shanghai. After more than three months of brutal fighting, the Japanese army showed no signs of weakening. Suffering heavy losses, the Chinese army was forced to make an impossible decision: retreat and lose the city, or stay and risk being entirely overrun.&nbsp;

In an act of unprecedented bravery, Lieutenant Colonel Xie Jin Yuan (Du Chun) of the 524th Regiment, of the poorly equipped 88th Division of the National Revolutionary Army, led 452 young officers and soldiers into battle. Knowing their mission would undoubtedly fail, the brave young men followed their Lieutenant Colonel to the Sihang Warehouse. There they made their last stand against the 3rd Imperial Japanese Division, a division consisting of nearly 20,000 troops. Against impossible odds, these 400 soldiers held out against the relentless Japanese army for four days, providing the rest of the Chinese army the time they needed to retreat.

Though these brave men ultimately lost the battle, their stand at the Sihang Warehouse would bolster the morale of the Chinese army and earn them a place in history as legendary heroes.

Based on actual events, “The Eight Hundred” is a 2020 historical war film directed by Guan Hu.

In a compilation of seven short films, seven directors explore the history of modern China and its people, going back to the 1940s and the aftermath of World War II, on the eve of the birth of the People’s Republic of China, through to the 1960s, the 1980s, the 1990s, and finally the 2010s, with stars like Song Jia and Ou Hao making appearances.

The first film focuses on an engineer struggling to organize a ceremony to mark the birth of the nation and the second tells the story of a love-sick nuclear scientist. In the third film, a young boy does what he can to help his neighborhood watch the gold medal match of the women’s volleyball competition in the 1984 Olympic Games.

The remaining films focus on more recent events, including two groups of people preparing for the handover of Hong Kong by the British colonial government in 1997. There is another Olympic story in a film about events surrounding the 2008 Olympics, which were held in Beijing, as a taxi driver decides to gift a ticket he had bought for his own son to another boy.

In the sixth film, two homeless boys watch a spectacular space mission in the 2010s. And in the final film, a female air force pilot attempts to ensure that a military parade to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War goes off without a hitch

Chinese New Year is a time to reflect on relationships and family.

Wedding planner Jia Yi (Amber Kuo) is planning her 100th wedding, and the her sentimentality makes her want to get married. But her boyfriend (Rhydian Vaughan) is not committing.

Nana (Zhao Li Ying) goes into labor on New Year's Eve. But her husband, superstar Jing Ming (Jam Hsiao), must choose between being by her side for this important family event and his professional commitment to appear on a countdown show. 

Zhong Wei (Xia Yu) and Ya Lun (Gordon Lam) are overworked police officers. After capturing the suspect Hou Zi (Zhang Yi), they agree to let him say goodbye to his grandmother before being taken away. Zhong Wei and Ya Lun begin to think about their own families.
