Song An Yan (Charlene Choi) is a forensic expert who is almost unparalleled in her abilities. The dead almost seem to be able to reach out and speak to her about how they died – as she notices clues that most other experts tend to overlook. Much of this is due to the fact that she has a form of hypersensitivity that leaves her bombarded with information. She is also haunted by events from the past – and a case involving her own family that ended in an unhappy conclusion.

One day, a 29-year-old woman is found brutally murdered in her home. Beside her, detectives find a ghastly mask stained with blood. But the blood, it soon turns out, does not belong to the dead woman. It actually matches blood linked to a homicide case that took place 20 years ago. Song An Yan senses that the case may involve her family in some way. The brilliant but fast-tempered detective Liu Zhi Ming (Joseph Chang) is dispatched to solve the case, and must join forces with Song An Yan in his bid to find the truth. But a mysterious woman named Lin Xiao Mei (Gillian Chung) also appears keen to be involved in all this. What are her motives?
