Aaron Kwok, or Kwok Fu Shing, as he’s also known, is an award-winning Hong Kong singer, dancer, and actor. He was born on October 26, 1965 in Hong Kong and made his debut in the entertainment industry in 1984. He took his first role as an actor in 1987 and has appeared in numerous films and television dramas since, including “The Stormriders” (1998) and “Para Para Sakura” (2001). A highly successful Cantopop singer and dancer, he has been labeled one of the “Four Heavenly Kings” of Hong Kong pop culture.

A cowardly and struggling artist-turned-criminal named Lee Man (Aaron Kwok) is extradited from a prison in Thailand to Hong Kong to help the police track down a mysterious and fearsome criminal genius known only as Painter (Chow Yun Fat).

After initially refusing to talk, the police let Lee Man see a former girlfriend who tells him that Painter has killed her lover and wants to take her life, too. This eventually seems to convince him to spill the beans to the police.

He explains how when he was a struggling artist in Canada, Painter convinced him to join a counterfeit United States dollar printing ring – using Lee Man’s advanced copying skills.

Lee Man goes on to explain how he eventually joined Painter’s gang, having already lost everything he ever held dear – but eventually found he had bitten off far more than he could chew.

However, as Lee Man reluctantly remembers his time in the criminal gang, the plot begins to thicken – and he continues to warn of the terrible retribution that will befall him if Painter learns he is cooperating with the police.

The Buddhist monk Xuan Zang (Feng Shao Feng) is on a mission to find a cache of sacred scriptures. With him travel the Monkey King (Aaron Kwok), as well as a pig demon named Ba Jie (Xiao Shen Yang) and a sand demon. The companions travel by boat along a river and unexpectedly find themselves in a realm called the Womanland of Western Liang. Like the Amazons, this is a nation inhabited only by women. The natives are taught to think of men as tricksters and deceptive individuals. The group is taken captive.

But the nation’s Queen (Zhao Li Ying) has other plans for them. She knows of a prophecy that dictates that her marriage could have enormously beneficial results. She thinks that a union with Xuan Zang could help her in this regard, so refuses to let the travelers leave. But this has all angered a powerful river deity, which decides to exact its revenge on the women – and the companions. Could love save the day – or cause the realm’s ultimate downfall?

A devout Buddhist monk named Xuan Zang (Feng Shao Feng) is on a mission to India in search of lost holy texts, but he is sidetracked when a tiger attacks. He runs for cover and takes shelter inside a dark cave – totally aware that this cave is actually a makeshift prison created by the Buddha to hold the mischief-loving Monkey King (Aaron Kwok). When Xuan Zang enters, the Monkey King is freed from his 500-year-long captivity. But before he can escape, a divinity tells him that he must join Xuan Zang on his quest. The Monkey King wants nothing to do with this plan, but the Buddha makes sure he complies by placing a hoop on his head that forces him to complete his task.

Soon, they are joined in their mission by other demons, including a pig demon named Ba Jie (Xiao Shen Yang). But this quest could be cut short by the fearsome, beautiful, and evil demon Lady White Bone (Gong Li). She will perish shortly unless she can catch and eat Xuan Zang, whose pure soul would allow her to live forever. She hatches a wicked plan to lure the companions into a trap – attempting to pit them against one another. Can they thwart her dastardly scheme – and continue their quest for the sacred documents?
