Zheng Kai, or Ryan Zheng, as he’s also known, is a Chinese actor. He was born on April 17, 1986 in Shanghai, China and made his debut in the entertainment world in 2008. Since debut, he has appeared in various films and television dramas, including “Fleet of Time” (2014), “Best Get Going” (2015), and “Running Man” (2015).

Wu Di (Joe Chen) is a flight attendant who decides to pursue her dream of becoming an airline pilot. She enrolls at a pilot school, and it is here that she meets two men: One is a fellow trainee pilot named Xia Yu (Zhu Zi Xiao). He is the heir to a lucrative airline empire, but also harbors dreams of becoming a commercial pilot. However, his life is tinged with tragedy – a few years ago, his mother died in a sudden accident.

In a twist of fate, the other man who catches Wu Di’s eye is a young mechanic named Xiao Mo (Zheng Kai). Once a budding pilot himself, Xiao Mo was initially suspected of being at fault for the accident that claimed Xia Yu’s mother’s life. Although an inquiry exonerated him of any blame, wracked with guilt, he decided to give up his ambitions to become a pilot, becoming an engineer instead. However, the urge to reach for the skies is still strong for him, and when he meets Wu Di, he starts to revisit his pilot dreams. But new details from the incident emerge, leading to fresh suspicions – as both men’s interest in Wu Di starts to intensify…

In 1937, shortly after the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Imperial Japanese Army invaded Shanghai. After more than three months of brutal fighting, the Japanese army showed no signs of weakening. Suffering heavy losses, the Chinese army was forced to make an impossible decision: retreat and lose the city, or stay and risk being entirely overrun.&nbsp;

In an act of unprecedented bravery, Lieutenant Colonel Xie Jin Yuan (Du Chun) of the 524th Regiment, of the poorly equipped 88th Division of the National Revolutionary Army, led 452 young officers and soldiers into battle. Knowing their mission would undoubtedly fail, the brave young men followed their Lieutenant Colonel to the Sihang Warehouse. There they made their last stand against the 3rd Imperial Japanese Division, a division consisting of nearly 20,000 troops. Against impossible odds, these 400 soldiers held out against the relentless Japanese army for four days, providing the rest of the Chinese army the time they needed to retreat.

Though these brave men ultimately lost the battle, their stand at the Sihang Warehouse would bolster the morale of the Chinese army and earn them a place in history as legendary heroes.

Based on actual events, “The Eight Hundred” is a 2020 historical war film directed by Guan Hu.
