Zhao Wei is a popular Chinese actress, singer, film director and producer. Born on March 12, 1976, she made her acting debut in the 1996 film “Penitentiary Angel” and then gained overnight fame for her role in the 1998 hit television drama “My Fair Princess.” The series made her the youngest actress in 1999 to win a Golden Eagle Award for Best Actress, the first of many acting awards during her celebrated career. Zhao Wei is primarily known for her film roles, including the hits “Shaolin Soccer” (2001), “Red Cliff” (2008-2009), “Painted Skin” (2008), “Painted Skin: The Resurrection” (2012), “Dearest” (2014) and “Lost in Hong Kong” (2015). She released her first album in 1999 and has put out a total of seven music albums. She also made her directorial debut with the 2013 film “So Young,” which went on to become one of the highest-grossing films in China and brought her several Best Director awards. Zhao Wei served on the main jury for the 73rd Venice International Film Festival and the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival. She married Chinese businessman Huang You Long in 2008.
