Chen Chong, or Joan Chen, as she’s also known, is an award-winning Chinese actress, award-winning film director, award-winning screenwriter, and film producer. She was born on April 26, 1961 in Shanghai, China and made her acting debut in 1975 and was dubbed, “the Elizabeth Taylor of China” by “Time” magazine, not long after. In 1995, she debuted her first film as a producer, in 1998 she debuted as both a screenwriter and director, and brought home numerous awards for her work that same year. Since then, she has continued to produce, write, and direct, as well as continuing to appear in numerous films and television dramas, including “Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace” (2018) and “Sheep Without a Shepherd” (2019).

Chen Chong

Chen Jing Xiu (Feng Xiao Gang) is a calm-tempered university professor who lives with his disgruntled wife Li Jia Zhen (Chen Chong) – who constantly berates his lack of ambition. She feels that if he tried harder, her husband could gain tenure, instead of forever remaining an associate. Her ire is piqued again on the day Chen Jing Xiu brings home a stray, abandoned puppy named Ba Tong – despite her insistence that no pets should come to the house!

Li Jia Zhen tries to find a new home for the dog, but is frustrated at every turn. However, despite Li Jia Zhen’s initial reluctance, Ba Tong eventually proves to be a faithful and devoted addition to the family. As the couple grows old, and their children mature, Ba Tong becomes increasingly devoted to his adoptive family. But what will happen when Ba Tong is faced with the ultimate test of loyalty?

This movie was based on a true story and has previously been adapted as a movie on several occasions, beginning in the 1920s.

“Hachiko” is a 2023 Chinese movie that was directed by Xu Ang.

Li Wei Jie (Yang Xiao) left his homeland for Thailand, building a successful life with his wife Ayu (Tan Zhuo) and two daughters. Their eldest, Ping Ping (Audrey Hui), struggles with bullying and is blackmailed by Suchat (Bian Tian Yang) for sex. When Ayu confronts Suchat, an accident occurs, turning mother and daughter into unintentional murderers. Desperate to protect his family, Wei Jie uses his knowledge of detective films to outwit Lawan (Chen Chong), the Chief of Police and Suchat's mother. As he navigates the criminal justice system he distrusts, Wei Jie must use his wit and film-inspired strategies to save his family from potential prosecution. This is a 2019 Thai thriller film directed by Sam Quah, inspired by the 2015 Indian film "Drishyam".
