Chen Chong, or Joan Chen, as she’s also known, is an award-winning Chinese actress, award-winning film director, award-winning screenwriter, and film producer. She was born on April 26, 1961 in Shanghai, China and made her acting debut in 1975 and was dubbed, “the Elizabeth Taylor of China” by “Time” magazine, not long after. In 1995, she debuted her first film as a producer, in 1998 she debuted as both a screenwriter and director, and brought home numerous awards for her work that same year. Since then, she has continued to produce, write, and direct, as well as continuing to appear in numerous films and television dramas, including “Ruyi’s Royal Love in the Palace” (2018) and “Sheep Without a Shepherd” (2019).

Chen Chong

Chen Jing Xiu (Feng Xiao Gang), a calm university professor, brings home a stray puppy named Ba Tong, much to the dismay of his wife Li Jia Zhen (Chen Chong), who criticizes his lack of professional ambition. Despite her initial resistance, Ba Tong gradually becomes an integral part of their family, demonstrating unwavering loyalty as the couple ages and their children grow. Li Jia Zhen's attempts to rehome the dog fail, and she eventually accepts Ba Tong's presence. The film explores the deep bond between the dog and his adoptive family, ultimately testing the limits of canine devotion. Based on a true story that has been adapted multiple times since the 1920s, this is a 2023 Chinese movie directed by Xu Ang that celebrates the extraordinary relationship between humans and their faithful animal companions.

Li Wei Jie (Yang Xiao) left his homeland for Thailand, building a successful life with his wife Ayu (Tan Zhuo) and two daughters. Their eldest, Ping Ping (Audrey Hui), struggles with bullying and is blackmailed by Suchat (Bian Tian Yang) for sex. When Ayu confronts Suchat, an accident occurs, turning mother and daughter into unintentional murderers. Desperate to protect his family, Wei Jie uses his knowledge of detective films to outwit Lawan (Chen Chong), the Chief of Police and Suchat's mother. As he navigates the criminal justice system he distrusts, Wei Jie must use his wit and film-inspired strategies to save his family from potential prosecution. This is a 2019 Thai thriller film directed by Sam Quah, inspired by the 2015 Indian film "Drishyam".
