Hwang Jung Min is a South Korean actor who was born on September 1, 1970, in South Gyeongsang Province. He started out as a musical actor, making his debut in a stage play production of “Line 1” in 1995. He later transitioned to movie acting and appeared in a number of box office smash hits, such as “New World” (2013), “Ode to My Father (2014),” and “Veteran” (2015).

On December 12, 1979, South Korea’s president, Park Chung Hee was assassinated. Acting in direct defiance of Acting President Han Gyu (Jung Dong Hwan), Major General Chun Doo Gwang (Hwang Jung Min) and the officers who followed him, arrest General Jeong Sang Ho (Lee Sung Min), the Republic Of Korea’s Army Chief of Staff, on allegations of involvement in the late president’s murder, clearing the way for a national coup d'état.

Following the capture of General Jeong, an impressive military presence sets itself up in downtown Seoul in support of Major General Chun. Utterly appalled by Major General Chun’s grab for power, Commander Lee Tae Shin (Jung Woo Sung) of the Capital Garrison Command rallies forces to take a stand against Chun Doo Gwang.&nbsp;

Fighting against those trying to seize power, Commander Lee does everything he can to stop the insurrection. As tensions rise between the two groups, military leaders are called to action but nothing seems able to stop Chun Doo Gwang in his quest for power. The year is 2007 and in Afghanistan, a bloody multinational conflict is raging, with a range of troops from the United States and its allies – including South Korea – are stationed in the country. This small 200 soldier-strong force is stationed in the country but is due to withdraw by the year’s end. Meanwhile, a group of Christian missionaries from a South Korean Presbyterian church has entered the country, against government guidelines, on a quest to evangelize among the Afghan population. While moving through the Ghazni Province by bus, the group is kidnapped by armed Taliban gunmen who hold the group hostage.

The terrorists believe that the South Korean civilians will make an ideal bargaining chip in their effort to raise money and force an early exit from the South Korean forces. The South Korean government is reluctant to bargain with terrorists, but the gunmen threaten to kill the hostages one by one if their demands are not met. Seoul dispatches Dae Sik (Hyun Bin), a National Intelligence Service agent, and the diplomat Jae Ho (Hwang Jung Min) to the warzone to negotiate for the group’s lives. It’s a dangerous mission, and soon not only are the hostages at risk, but also their two would-be rescuers.

This film is based on a true story of events that took place in 2007.

But this terrible experience brings them together. As they begin to develop an emotional connection, however, things are about to come to head at home...
