In 1970s South Korea, siblings Kang Mo (Lee Bum Soo), Sung Mo (Park Sang Min), and Mi Joo (Hwang Jung Eum) were separated after their father was betrayed and killed in a robbery gone wrong. In adulthood, Kang Mo, the ambitious middle child, rises from poverty, navigating treacherous political and business landscapes to avenge his family. However, he often clashes with Sung Mo, a stoic intelligence agent, and Mi Joo, an aspiring singer caught in a tragic romance with the son of a family enemy. Amidst South Korea’s rapid industrialization, Kang Mo tries to enact his revenge, fights to reclaim his family's honor, and strives to build an empire of his own.
