Corruption is rife at the affluent JU Construction, so the firm brings in a new auditing team to clean the company up. Heading this unit is the ice-cold cynic Shin Cha Il (Shin Ha Kyun), a specialist in hunting down white-collar criminals. However, his audit team members do not all share his deep distrust of humanity. The team includes new hire Goo Han Soo (Lee Jung Ha), a warm-hearted Gen Z employee who applied to join the audit team thinking it might help him to land a job in the United States. The duo immediately begin butting heads, due to their wildly different world views. However, they soon begin to discover that pitting their wits leads them both to success. Intrigued, he suggests that Lee Min Jae joins his operation as a loan broker. The latter agrees. But when the police come calling for Jang Seok Goo, Lee Min Jae finds himself pitted against Park Ji Won...who proves to be an altogether more ruthless opponent.

Yoon Hyuk gives Lee Bang Woo a cache of what he says are secret documents and states that terrorists were not behind the explosion after all. Instead, he claims, the explosion was masterminded by government agents. With the help of two fellow journalists – Sung Hyo Kwan (Kim Min Hee) and Son Jin Ki (Kim Sang Ho) – he begins to dig deeper. A culinary-themed diplomatic incident occurs during a meeting between the South Korean president and the prime minister of Japan: While the two political leaders discuss kimchi, the Japanese PM boldly declares that kimchi was invented by the Japanese, while the South Korean leader insists that the dish was first created by Korean cooks.

The incident leads the South Korean government to raise the profile of kimchi – both domestically and abroad – by hosting a high-profile kimchi-making contest.

Song Chan (Jin Goo) resolves to join the contest in a bid to save a restaurant that once belonged to his mother, using his mother’s mouth-watering kimchi recipe.

But standing in his way is his step-sister Jang Eun (Kim Jung Eun). She is currently running the restaurant, but wants to close it – and still resents her mother for being so cold and distant to her during their childhood.
