Jung Tae Woo is a South Korean actor who is known for his work in many historical dramas. Born on March 23, 1982, he began his career as a child model and actor and has since established himself for playing notable Princes and Kings in popular historical dramas, including in “Taejo Wang Geon” (2000), “Dae Jo Yeong” (2007), “The King and I” (2008), “Gwanggaeto, The Great Conquerer” (2011) and “The Merchant: Gaekju 2015” (2015). Jung Tae Woo married Jang In Hee in 2009.

In the late 19th century, escaping from feudal society, everyone starts dreaming big. Tens of stores are newly open in Namdaemun and Dongdaemun. And Bong Sam, the son of a collapsed peddler, starts from rock bottom and does everything he can to reach the top of society. The drama depicts his journey of becoming one of the wealthiest merchants in Joseon from a puller-in at a marketplace. Just like the modern days, capitalism and a free market economy prevailed at the time. Bong Sam shows how to seek a chance to earn money and maximize profits and how wicked and greedy monopolies are crushed by him.
