Kubozuka Yosuke is a Japanese actor and model who was born on May 7, 1979, in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. He debuted in the 1995 police-themed drama series “Kindaichi Case Files,” and followed up with the movie “Midori” in 1996. He since went on to appear in the movies “Go” in 2001 and 2003’s “Samurai Resurrection.” In 2016, he starred in the Martin Scorsese-directed epic movie “Silence,” following up with the film “Alley Cat” in 2017.

Hideaki Ashita (Yosuke Kubozuka) was once a promising boxer. But during a bout one day, he suffered injuries that forced him to hang up his gloves. His days are now totally empty and devoid of any joy. Alone, he takes an interest in a local stray cat.

But one day, he finds the cat has gone. He searches for the missing cat and eventually finds it – in the arms of an auto mechanic named Ikumi Umetsu (Kenji Furuya).

The two bicker about who is to look after the cat, and what it should be called – but eventually form a shaky alliance.

But not long after meeting, Hideaki Ashita agrees to protect a single mother and her young son – ostensibly to protect them from her ex-boyfriend-turned stalker.

However, after Ikumi Umetsu attacks the stalker, the duo finds that gangsters and corrupt businesspeople are also involved in the matter – and they all find themselves in the middle of a complicated web of underworld conspiracies that threaten to engulf them completely.

Sugihara (Kubozuka Yosuke) is a troubled student. He comes from a Korean family and attended a junior high school for the children of mainly North Korean families, but has now moved on to a high school for mainly ethnically Japanese students.

His family operates a small store that swaps prizes from arcade machines for cash and his father – an ardent supporter of the North Korean regime – surprised the whole community when he decided to apply for a South Korean passport. Ostensibly, he made the decision in order to go on vacation to Hawaii.

Sugihara and his friends cause no end of trouble at school and in the neighborhood, with violent fights not uncommon.

But when he meets a Japanese girl named Tsubaki Sakurai (Shibasaki Kou), his hard edges soften. The two begin on a relationship – which threatens to turn sour when she learns of his heritage.

And when he confronts his father about his motives for obtaining a South Korean passport, he discovers that all is not as it seems…

Will Sugihara and Tsubaki Sakurai find love, despite lingering social prejudices? And can Sugihara find a peaceful resolution to his spat with his father?

“Go” is a 2001 Japanese movie that was directed by Isao Yukisada.
