In 2006, Sanada Rio’s (Yuriko Yoshitaka) peaceful town was shaken to its core after one of the local townspeople went missing. Without enough evidence and information to go on, the case was never solved and the missing individual was never found. Though everyone in the town, including Sanada, eventually moved on with their lives, the case was never truly forgotten.

Fifteen years later, Sanada has grown into a hardworking businesswoman who has met with incredible success. A leader in her field, Sanada is proud of her accomplishments, and rightly so. Peppered with romance and mystery, “Dearest” is a 2021 Japanese mystery romance thriller drama directed by Ayuko Tsukahara, Takeyoshi Yamamoto, and Yoshiaki Murao.
