Yuu Tokui is a Japanese actor who was born on September 28, 1959, in Osaka, Japan. He made his big-screen debut in the 1979 movie “Japanese Mastermind,” going on to appear in the film “Fancy Dance” (1989). In the mid-1990s, he transitioned into small-screen performances, appearing in dramas such as “Mirai-chan” in 1997. He has since gone on to star in the films “I Am a Hero” (2016) and “My Retirement, My Life” (2018).

Murakami Maiko (Aoi Wakana), aged 24, is the daughter of a business owner. She is straight-talking and pure of heart, but has never been in a romantic relationship. One day, her father asks him to go on a blind date with one of his work acquaintances, a man named Hanasato Harumi (Takezai Terunosuke). On paper, this match is as terrible as they come: Murakami Maiko has lived a sheltered life, and Hanasato Harumi is a 44-year-old divorcee. She agrees to go on the date to please her father, while Hanasato Harumi only concedes to the meeting because he values her father as a business partner.

Michitaro Sano (Masao Kusakari) threw himself into his work life after his wife died almost two decades ago, and ever since has lived with his daughter Yumiko (Fumino Kimura).

The latter has taken sole care of the house since her mother died, balancing her own working life with her duties at home.

Michitaro Sano was almost oblivious to his daughter’s life while he was still working. But when he retires, he finds himself with almost nothing to do all day.

With all this free time, he starts to learn more about his daughter’s life, and is surprised to learn that not only does she have a boyfriend that he did not know about, but that she is seriously thinking about getting married to him.

She also asks him to start pulling his weight at home, helping with the chores for the very first time.

As a distraction from his now-mundane home life, he decides to join a fitness group run by a local radio station – discovering a whole new group of people who help him learn about life after retirement.
